How does a gene, consisting only of a string of DNA nucleotides, know when it should express itself? How do different types of cells know which proteins to produce?

The answers to such questions lie in the study of dynamic gene expression. 

The Koromila lab combines Super Resolution Live Imaging and whole genome approaches with single-cell sensitivity to visualize transient molecular events and to study how changes in gene expression can drive cell identity over time.
