Background

The repair of a fractured bone is a complex biological event that essentially recapitulates embryonic development. Understanding the spatiotemporal gene expression during the bone healing progression will ultimately enable us to comprehend the essential process of remodeling.

Aim

How binding states of functionally related transcription factors are affected by the underlying chromatin state in bone metabolism? We are currently investigating how Odd-paired/ZIC and Runt/RUNX function to alter the chromatin structure. Additionally, RNA live-imaging will help us detect temporal gene expression variations in bone cells upon transcription dynamic input.
